第三课时 Reading (part 2) & Speaking 1. Teaching Analysis 教情分析 1) Teaching objectives-教学目标

Students began to form the habit of predicting before and while reading. Therefore, they are eager to check their predictions with the rest of the reading material.

Basically after the first and second period of learning, students will have a solid knowledge of healthy eating and a balanced diet and the words and expressions needed to develop on the topic in a conversation. 3) Class data本班实际

Making predictions: ask students the following two questions to help them review what’s been discuss in the previous lesson and arouse students interests in reading more.

1. What would Wang Peng probably do to win his customer back? 2. How do you think the story will end? Suggested answers:

1. Maybe he will make a new sign and a new menu, adding more fruit and vegetables and fruits and cutting down fat and oil.

2. Wang Peng may win some customers back and Yong Hui may began to lose customers and they may combine each other’s menu to make a balanced menu. Step II While-reading

1. Skimming: ask the students to read the rest of the story carefully and then answer the following questions:

1) What did Wang Peng do to win his customer back? 2) Did all his customer come back?

3) What did Yong Hui do in Wang Peng’s restaurant? 4) What did they talk about? 5) What happened in the end? Suggested answers:

1) He set a discount and a new sign to win his customers back. 2) No, but most of them returned back.

3) She had a meal with Wang Peng and they had a talk.

4) They talked about food served in both restaurant, menus and balanced diets. 5) Their business cooperation had turned into a personal one and they finally got married and lived happily ever after. Step III Post-reading & Speaking

1. Retell the first part of the story with the help of given information.

Wang Peng felt frustrated in his empty restaurant because no customer had come to his restaurant ever since he got up early in the morning. He wanted to find out why. He hurried out and followed Li Chang into a newly-opened restaurant. He found that the owner named Yong Hui was serving slimming foods to make people thin. Wang Peng was amazed at what he saw on the menu. He hurried outside and went to the library to do some research. After a lot of reading, he realized that Yong Hui’s food made people become tired quickly because it was no energy-giving food. Arriving home Wang Peng rewrote his own sign. The competition between the two restaurants was on!

2. With the help of exercise 1, now retell the whole story with the following structure and some key words, using a place order.
