The Moon doesn’t have its own light. It shines back the light of the Sun. When the Sun is shining on the side of the Moon that faces us, it looks like a great round ball. We can't see the Moon when the Sun is shining on the side of the Moon that faces away from us.

Dear Xuyi,

Perhaps your problem comes from shyness. You might be afraid of strangers. You must push your shyness away and show your classmates how interesting you can be.

It’s OK to do this slowly. It takes time to get to know a person and it takes time to get along with him or her.

The first thing you must do is to smile at your classmates. One smile speaks kinder about your wish to make friends than any word. Do this as often as you can, until your classmates get used to your smile and smile in return.

The next thing is to try to talk to your classmates. The best time for this is between classes or during your lunch time. Make sure that they’re not busy. You may find it easier to start by talking to people when they’re alone, instead of in a group.

There must be someone else in your class, who is also quiet. It might be easier to talk to shy people like you.
